It has been announced that the TV anime The Old Man from the Countryside Becomes a Sword Saint II will begin broadcasting in July 2026. The series will air on the TV Asahi network (24 stations nationwide), BS Asahi, and other channels.

The series is directed by Akio Kazumi, with series composition by Kunihiko Okada. Satsuki Hayasaka serves as both character designer and chief animation director, while Yasuharu Takanashi composes the music. Animation production is a collaboration between Passione and Hayabusa Film.
Synopsis
Beryl Gardenant is a humble, middle-aged fencing instructor running a dojo in the countryside. The days when he aspired to the pinnacle of swordsmanship are long gone; he has come to terms with his own limits and settled into a leisurely life. However, his quiet existence is interrupted when Alyucia, a former student who has risen to the rank of Commander of the Royal Knights, visits him after ten years.
“I recommended you as a Special Instructor to the Knight Order, and the appointment has been approved.”
Beryl had resigned himself to quietly ending his days in the countryside—and he was fine with that. But now, his destiny is about to change drastically! He faces life in the big city, reunions with former students who have grown significantly, and encounters with both new allies and formidable enemies.
“For a washed-up old man like me, this burden is too heavy…”
Although Beryl feels this way, his swordsmanship—honed honestly through years of diligent practice—has reached a terrifying level, worthy of the title “Sword Saint of the Countryside.”
