The main trailer, theme song details, and broadcast and streaming information have been unveiled for the new television special Kaguya-sama: Love Is War: The Steps to Adulthood. The special is set to air on TOKYO MX and other channels starting at 10:00 PM on the 31st. The opening theme has been confirmed as “Abunai Kioku” (Dangerous Memories) by Masayuki Suzuki featuring Aoi Koga.

Kaguya-sama new special

In addition to TOKYO MX, the program will broadcast on BS11 and Tochigi TV on December 31 at 10:00 PM. Subsequent broadcasts include Gunma TV on January 1, 2026, at midnight; MBS on January 2 at 1:15 AM; RKB on January 3 at 2:35 AM; and TeNY on January 4 at 2:00 AM.

Set at Shuchiin Academy, a school for the elite, this “battle-of-wits romantic comedy” depicts the strategic maneuvering between Vice President Kaguya Shinomiya and Student Council President Miyuki Shirogane. Although drawn to one another, their high pride prevents them from being honest; instead, the story follows their attempts to force the other to confess their love first.

It has also been adapted into live-action films starring Sho Hirano and Kanna Hashimoto.

Comment from Masayuki Suzuki

Suzuki Masayuki

I have returned after about three years. I am Masayuki Suzuki, the “Big Rookie of the Anison World.”

Since the anime began in 2019, this marks my fifth consecutive theme song contribution to the Kaguya-sama series. As I approach my 70th birthday next year, walking alongside such a magnificent work makes me deeply appreciate the significance of singing for 45 years.

Although I had met my duet partner for this latest track, “Abunai Kioku,” Ms. Aoi Koga, several times at Kaguya-sama events, sharing the recording studio with her was a first. Her ability to understand the world I aimed to depict in the song and fully immerse herself in the performance was, in a word, brilliant. I believe the song captures the renewed romantic maneuvering between the two protagonists after three years.

First, please listen to this song, and let us look forward together to the new battle of wits airing at the end of the year.

Masayuki Suzuki has supported and colored this work as the opening theme artist since the first season of Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, walking alongside us all this time. To think that I would be allowed to sing the opening with him this time! I am still trembling all over.

While I am incredibly happy and honored, a swirl of emotions surrounds me precisely because this is the opening for a work so special to me.

Recording “Abunai Kioku” was nerve-wracking, but I poured my utmost feelings into it, keeping in mind the subtitle of this special, “The Steps to Adulthood,” and reflecting on Kaguya and the others’ journey so far.

I hope you will listen to the song often and let it expand the world of Kaguya-sama for you. Thank you very much.
