General ticket sales begin today, the 10th. Furthermore, to commemorate this third production, it has been announced that archive streams of the first and second stage plays will be made available.

Hiromu Arakawa’s Fullmetal Alchemist is a popular manga serialized in Square Enix’s Monthly Shonen Gangan from 2001 to 2010. It tells the story of two brothers, Edward and Alphonse, who commit the taboo of human transmutation. This dark fantasy depicts their adventure and growth as they resolve to regain everything they lost, despite standing on the brink of despair.

With over 80 million copies sold worldwide, the series has garnered immense popularity, spawning television anime adaptations aired in 2003–2004 and 2009–2010, as well as a live-action film starring Ryosuke Yamada (Hey! Say! JUMP). It was first adapted into a stage play in 2023.

Message from Original Creator Hiromu Arakawa

The third Fullmetal Alchemist stage play is finally here! It is thanks to everyone who has supported us—the fans, the cast, and the staff—that the curtain is rising for a third time.

Unlike live-action film or anime, the stage has limited space. Yet, watching the production unfold within those confines, I am freshly surprised every time, thinking, “The stage is actually so vast! It’s so free!” (As an author, I also find myself thinking sly thoughts like, “I wonder if I can stea… make use of this direction in the manga.”)

Once again, the story is an extra-large serving packed to the brim, where every moment is a highlight. Personally, however, I am looking forward to the scene where Envy (Giant Form) appears. I am excited to see how they will stage it!

Synopsis

As young children, Edward Elric and his brother Alphonse attempted the taboo of “Human Transmutation” to resurrect their beloved deceased mother. The attempt failed. As a toll, Edward lost his left leg and right arm, while Alphonse lost his entire physical body, his soul now anchored to a suit of armor.

Journeying to find the “Philosopher’s Stone” to regain their lost bodies, the Elric brothers encounter the Homunculi maneuvering in the shadows of the nation of Amestris, as well as “Father,” the figure controlling them.

During the battle, the brothers fall into a desperate situation when their alchemy is sealed. They are saved by Scar—whom they viewed as an enemy—and May Chang, a princess of Xing and a user of Alkahestry. Seeing new possibilities in Alkahestry, the brothers head north in pursuit of May.

At Briggs Fortress, governed by the Ice Queen Olivier Mira Armstrong, they confront a grave truth that shakes the very foundations of the nation.
