A TV anime adaptation has been green-lit for the light novel series *Reborn as a Space Mercenary: I Woke Up Piloting the Strongest Starship!*, written by Ryuto and illustrated by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima. Scheduled to begin broadcasting this October, the announcement was accompanied by a teaser visual, a promotional video, and details regarding the main cast and staff.

Takahiro Sato is an ordinary corporate worker leading a dull and exhausting life. One day, he wakes up to find himself inside the world of his favorite sci-fi video game, sitting in the cockpit of a top-tier starship fully loaded with the ultimate gear. In a sprawling universe where he is completely free to become an adventurer, a trader, or a mercenary, Takahiro decides to embrace his new life under the name “Hiro.”
—”Captain Hiro. I’m a mercenary.”
As Hiro gathers a crew and battles his way through the cosmos, he comes to a sobering realization: there is no carbonated soda—his absolute favorite drink—in space. Furthermore, he and his friends have no real home to return to. Faced with this, his new goal becomes clear: to purchase a detached home with a garden on a hospitable planet, despite the astronomical cost! And so, armed with the universe’s greatest ship and surrounded by his new crew, Hiro embarks on a lucrative career as a space mercenary.
The original story is written by Ryuto with original illustrations by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima, while the manga adaptation is illustrated by Shunichi Matsui. The anime will be directed by Norihiko Nagahama at studio A-CAT, with series composition by Takamitsu Kouno and character designs by Masami Sueoka. Jin Aketagawa will serve as the sound director, and Kenta Higashiohji will compose the music.
The main cast features Makoto Furukawa as Hiro, Konomi Inagaki as Mimi, Anna Nagase as Elma, and Haruka Shiraishi as Serena.
Hiro (Voiced by Makoto Furukawa)

Real name: Takahiro Sato. Once an ordinary office worker, he suddenly finds himself transported into the world of a sci-fi video game. Now operating as a highly skilled mercenary, he can achieve astonishing levels of concentration during combat by holding his breath. Though he rarely shows it on the surface, he is deeply compassionate. His absolute favorite thing is carbonated soda.
Mimi (Voiced by Konomi Inagaki)

A young girl who was left homeless and orphaned after a tragic accident. Hiro rescues her from a group of thugs, after which she joins him as his starship’s operator. Although she is timid and reserved, she possesses high learning capabilities and is incredibly dexterous. She harbors a deep sense of gratitude and affection for Hiro, her savior.
Elma (Voiced by Anna Nagase)

A space elf with roughly five years of mercenary experience. She takes it upon herself to teach the rookie Hiro the ropes of the mercenary trade. While she often displays a haughty attitude, her sharp instincts and combat skills are the real deal. She is a rational pragmatist at heart, but she also has a surprisingly doting side.
Serena (Voiced by Haruka Shiraishi)

An officer in the Star System Military. Born into a noble family, she is an elite soldier entrusted with commanding her own squadron at a very young age. She takes a keen interest in Hiro after he takes down a wanted criminal. Due to her high rank and strict demeanor, most people are terrified of her. However, she might just have a more emotionally expressive side as well…
