The main cast, along with a second teaser visual and trailer, has been unveiled for the upcoming TV anime adaptation of *Firefly Wedding*, set to premiere this October on Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block.
The visual depicts the two protagonists on the precipice of descending into a beautiful, ephemeral, and twisted tale of obsessive love. Born into a prestigious lineage during an era where women were viewed as mere family assets, Satoko lives with the fervent dream of safeguarding her family’s name. Shinpei, on the other hand, was born and raised on an isolated island of courtesans, surviving solely by taking the lives of others. Fireflies take flight on the night their disparate destinies finally intersect—colliding in a pool of blood beneath a sky brimming with stars. Isolated from the outside world, a forbidden romance begins to unfold amidst this surreal, intimate landscape.
Lynn will voice Satoko Kirigaya, while Koki Uchiyama will play Shinpei Goto.
Satoko Kirigaya (Voiced by Lynn)
The daughter of the aristocratic Kirigaya family. Having lost her mother, she currently lives with her father, stepmother, and half-sister. She possesses a frail constitution and has been told by doctors that she does not have long to live. Out of deep affection for her father, she dreams of marrying into another prominent family to secure the Kirigaya legacy. She is a dedicated student, diligently acquiring the education expected for a respectable marriage, and harbors a hidden, unwavering inner strength.
Shinpei Goto (Voiced by Koki Uchiyama)
A young man born on Tennyo Island who earns his living as an assassin. He receives a commission from a certain individual to murder Satoko. He is single-mindedly devoted to the one he falls for, but possesses an equally fierce streak of jealousy.
The story is set during the Meiji era. Despite being born into a noble family and blessed with beauty, Satoko is given only a short time to live. Her sole aspiration is to enter into a marriage that will benefit her family. However, her life is abruptly targeted by a mysterious assassin. To survive the encounter, Satoko makes the killer an unexpected proposition.
The original manga is created by Oreco Tachibana. The anime is directed by Takahiro Kamei, with series composition and scripts by Yuko Kakihara, character design by Yukiko Aikei, and music by NOGRID. Animation production is handled by david production.
