The television anime “Ao no Miburo” has revealed the key visual and a new promotional video for its upcoming Serizawa Assassination arc, set to air nationwide on the Yomiuri TV/Nippon TV network from Saturday, 20 December, at 5:30 p.m. (weekly).

A dramatic anime key visual features a group of characters with intense expressions, standing together in dark, moody lighting. The image includes Japanese text at the top and bottom, and the series title "青のヌブロ" (Ao no Mubiru) is prominently displayed in glowing blue letters in the center.

Once known as the Mibu Rōshigumi—nicknamed the Miburo—the group that would later become the Shinsengumi has been forging unbreakable bonds through life‑or‑death battles to protect the streets of Kyoto. Yet when uncompromising versions of “justice” collide, their story hurtles toward a fleeting, tragic chronicle of assassination.

In the newly released key visual, seven members of the Miburo face forward with eyes set and resolve fixed. It captures “the instant each of them steels themselves,” a sliver of a tale in which the smallest misalignment of heartfelt convictions snowballs toward the worst possible outcome—signalling developments that will be hard to watch without tears.

The PV pivots from the warm camaraderie the Miburo shared throughout Season 1 to a stark, wrenching image of Serizawa sobbing in anguish.

Meanwhile, the original manga has entered the “Ao no Miburo — Shinsengumi Arc” and continues serialization. March brought the broadcast of the anime’s Season 1 finale, and April saw the stage adaptation performed in both Tokyo and Kyoto. With 2025 already surging as the “Ao no Miburo Year,” December will close it out with the long‑awaited television debut of the Serizawa Assassination arc.
