There will be a TV anime based on Yukinobu Tatsu’s Dandadan science fiction occult manga. The announcement came with a teaser video, visual, and release date of 2024. The second one, which gives a sneak peek at an exciting visual experience, is included below:
Fuuga Yamashiro, who has directed and storyboarded for several projects, including the tenth episode of The Heike Story and Keep Your Hands off Eizouken!, is serving as executive producer for the Dandadan adaptation at Science SARU. Additional key employees who have been announced are:
• Series composer: Hiroshi Seko (Chainsaw Man)
• Character designer: Naoyuki Onda (MF Ghost and Inuyashiki)
• Music composer: Kensuke Ushio (Tengoku Daimakyou, The Heike Story)
• Alien and yokai designer: Yoshimichi Kameda (Mob Psycho character designer)
Starting in 2021 with serialization on Shonen Jump+, the manga series published by Shueisha has accumulated eleven tankoubon volumes as of August 2023. The story follows two students, one of them has a paranormal belief system and the other a belief in extraterrestrials.
According to Viz Media, the storyline is:
Momo Ayase strikes up an unusual friendship with her school’s UFO fanatic, whom she nicknames “Okarun” because he has a name that is not to be said aloud. While Momo believes in spirits, she thinks aliens are nothing but nonsense. Her new friend, meanwhile, thinks the exact opposite. To settle matters, the two set out to prove each other wrong—Momo to a UFO hotspot and Okarun to a haunted tunnel! What unfolds next is a beautiful story of young love…and oddly horny aliens and spirits?
