Toei Animation made a historic announcement at this year’s New York Comic Con: Dragon Ball Daima. After a mysterious plot turns them into children, Son Goku, and the other Z-Fighters go on an exciting trip in this new anime spin-off.
Dragon Ball Daima departs from the formula by offering a whole new tale that is not based on any prior Dragon Ball manga. Goku and the Z-Fighters travel the galaxy in search of a means to return to their adult bodies, encountering obstacles along the way. “It’s a grand adventure with intense action in an unknown and mysterious world,” series creator Akira Toriyama said in a message to fans.
The teaser for the program, which premiered during the convention, features a colorful and redesigned ensemble, including adults such as Goku and Vegeta, and youngsters like Mr. Satan and Master Roshi. This surprising turn has prompted comparisons to Dragon Ball GT, but Daima stands apart by offering fans a one-of-a-kind experience by de-aging the whole cast of Z-Fighters.
Dragon Ball Daima, which is scheduled to premiere in the fall of 2024, will be unlike any other installment in the franchise. The events of the anime take place in a hitherto uncharted time period in the Dragon Ball world, between the death of Kid Buu and the introduction of Beerus and Whis. “We won’t be seeing transformations such as Ultra Instinct, Super Saiyan God, and Super Saiyan Blue,” insiders have stated.
Toriyama, who had a hand in making the series, spoke highly of it, highlighting its importance. More effort than usual is being put into this. In his letter, he predicted that events would occur that would “close in on the mysteries of the Dragon Ball World.”
