On July 22, 2023, the One Piece Day 2023 event revealed that Eiichiro Oda’s “Monsters: Ippaku Sanjō Hiryū Jigoku” one-shot manga gets an anime adaptation. The announcement was made during a panel discussion with Oda and the staff of the One Piece anime.

Monsters is a one-shot manga originally published in the 1994 Shonen Jump Autumn Special. It tells the story of Ryuma, a young samurai tasked with researching the theft of an infamous dragon’s horn. The manga is set in the same world as One Piece and features some of the same characters, such as Zoro and Mihawk.
Studio E&H Production will produce the animation. This studio was started last year by Sunghoo Park, who was Jujutsu’s Series Director, Who left Mappa to start his own studio. It is scheduled to premiere in 2024.
