On Friday, a new image and trailer for the Gushing Over Magical Girls anime was released, and four more cast members were unveiled. The supplementary actors are:
- Aoi Koga as Kiwi Araga / Leopard
- Shiori Sugiura as Korisu Morino / Nero Alice
- Mayuko Kazama as Sayo Minakami / Magia Azul
- Misaki Ikeda as Kaoruko Tenkawa / Magia Sulfur
Masato Suzuki and Atsushi Otsuki are directing the animated series for Asahi Production. Noboru Kimura is responsible for scripting, and Yasuka Otaki is in charge of character design. The music is composed by Yasuharu Takanashi, Akinari Suzuki, and Johannes Nilsson, while the sound design is by Satoshi Motoyama. The major players are:
- Fuka Izumi as Utena Hiiragi/Magia Baiser
- Kaori Maeda as Haruka Hanabishi/Magia Magenta
- Misato Fukuen as Venalita
The manga series by Akihiro Ononaka upon which Gushing Over Magical Girls is based. There are presently 9 volumes out of the initial 10 that began publication in March 2019 on Takeshobo’s Storia Dash website. The following story summary is taken from J-Novel Club, who licensed the English version of the manga (there are currently 6 volumes available):
“Hi, I’m Hiiragi Utena. I’m a normal magical-girl-loving middle school girl—or at least I was, but then some talking mascot showed up out of the blue and cast a spell on me! Now’s my chance to join my beloved magical girls as…a villain? Hang on, something’s wrong with my outfit! This can’t be happening! Watch this shy magical-girl fan transform into a sadistic dominatrix! When good and evil collide, who will be the one to submit?!”
