The voice cast for the “Bangumi,” a delinquent gang appearing in the upcoming High School! Kimengumi TV anime (based on the manga by Motoei Shinzawa), has been announced.

Yo Nihiruda (CV: Nobuhiko Okamoto)
The “Bangumi” is a group of five students repeating middle school. Although they defy school regulations, they are traditional “tough guys” who, while prone to fighting, refuse to engage in cowardly or dishonorable behavior. Nobuhiko Okamoto stars as their leader, Yo Nihiruda, who particularly detests sneaky tactics.
The rest of the gang’s cast includes Toshiyuki Horikita as Shinya Nakasudo, Tomoaki Asagiri as Saku Meriken, Masafumi Kobatake as Rando Shiroi, and Kazuki Ogawa as Maseru Tauchi.
Okamoto expressed his commitment, stating, “He’s supposed to be cool, but he never manages to stay cool. I hope to capture that surreal, awkward quality in my performance.”

Furthermore, starting today, November 4, visual art for each of the series’ gang leaders will be revealed over four consecutive weeks. The first installment features Yo, depicted with his eyes hidden by his bangs and wearing a leather jacket.
The High School! Kimengumi anime is set to broadcast in January 2026. It is a gag comedy centered on the titular “Kimengumi” (Oddball Group), a crew of eccentric and wild individuals, alongside various other rival “groups.”

A Message to the Audience
In this series, the characters’ names often directly reflect their personalities. True to his name, Yo Nihiruda is a “nihilistic” guy. But while he’s supposed to be this cool nihilist, he also has this trait of being endearingly unfortunate. He tries to be cool, but it just never works out for him. I’ll do my best to capture that surreal, awkward humor in my vocal performance.
If you could go back to your student days, what would you do?
I play badminton now, so if I could go back, I’d want to play badminton again. Back then, I went through all the practices, weight training, and tournaments mostly out of a sense of duty. But now I truly understand that hard work really does pay off and makes you improve, so I’d want to devote myself to it completely.
