Ezo Gingitsune’s hit light novel “Koko wa Ore ni Makasete Saki ni Ike to Itte kara 10-nen ga Tattara Densetsu ni Natteita.” (English rendering: I Became a Legend After My 10 Year-Long Last Stand) will be adapted into a television anime slated for 2026. Gakuto Kajiwara will play the protagonist, Luck. Cast members Toshiyuki Morikawa and Tsuyoshi Koyama have also been announced. Alongside the casting, the production staff and the first teaser visual have been unveiled.

Originating on the popular fiction website Shōsetsuka ni Narō, the fantasy series has surpassed 4.25 million copies in print across the franchise. The story follows S-rank mage Luck, who was battling the Demon King in an interdimensional rift alongside hero Eric and warrior Golan. To prevent the annihilation of his party, Luck declares, “Leave this to me—go on ahead!” and chooses to fight alone. He wins an unimaginably solitary struggle, but when he finally returns to his world, ten full years have gone by. Lauded as the great hero who sacrificed himself to save the world, Luck has, due to the aftereffects of the battle, physically reverted to a younger appearance. Concealing his identity, he begins anew as F-rank adventurer “Rock,” embarking on fresh quests. The original light novels (published by SB Creative) are currently available through volume 7. A manga adaptation by Abeno Chaco is serialized on SQUARE ENIX’s digital platform Manga UP!, with volume 18 scheduled for release on October 7.
Kajiwara will portray Luck Rock Franzen—formerly the S-rank archmage of the hero’s party—who, after a climactic battle, finds himself in a world ten years later, living under the alias “Rock” as an F-rank adventurer. Morikawa plays Eric Imgart Mendilibar, the hero chosen by the holy sword and the leader of Luck’s original party. Koyama plays Golan Morton, the party’s fearsome vanguard and an S-rank warrior.
The staff includes director Hiroyuki Kanbe (Plunderer), series composition by Mitsutaka Hirota (Rent-A-Girlfriend), and character design by Majiro (World Dai Star). Animation production is by Gekkō, the studio behind Maou-sama, Retry! R.
The first teaser visual depicts Luck casting protective magic over his comrades Eric and Golan, capturing the trio at a pivotal moment.
An autograph giveaway campaign is underway on the official X account, featuring shikishi signed by cast members and original creators.

Congratulations to “I Became a Legend After My 10 Year-Long Last Stand” on the anime adaptation!
I began posting “Koko-ore” to the web in 2018. Since then it became a novel series, then a manga—and now at last an anime. This is entirely thanks to the many people who have supported and worked on the series, and to all the readers who cheered it on. Thank you so much.
I can’t wait to see Luck and the others moving and speaking on screen. I hope all our readers will look forward to it as well.

Congratulations on the “Koko-ore” TV anime!!
Six years ago I fell in love at first sight with the original novel and its illustrations, and I began serializing the manga adaptation. Ever since, making this series has been full of surprises and joy.
I truly hope readers will also enjoy the world of “Koko-ore” in its anime form!
Tennoji Kitsune (Name/Story Structure)
Congratulations on the “Koko-ore” anime!!
“Koko-ore” shines thanks to the original’s superb placement of characters and their relationships, so I devoted myself entirely to conveying and elevating that in the manga.
I’m thrilled to meet Luck and the others again, now even more captivating with motion and voice!
