Jujutsu Kaisen fans have finally received the long-awaited update since the anime signed off in December 2023. Season 3, which adapts the Culling Game arc, has been officially announced to premiere in January 2026.
Toho Animation revealed the news during a fifth anniversary livestream on YouTube held on August 31. The event was hosted by the series’ three lead voice actors: Junya Enoki (Yuji Itadori), Yuma Uchida (Megumi Fushiguro), and Asami Seto (Nobara Kugisaki). After teasing the project at Anime Expo 2025, the JJK anime team finally unveiled the first trailer for Season 3. According to the press release, Crunchyroll has already shared the subtitled trailer in English and confirmed that the new episodes will stream weekly, on the same day as the Japanese broadcast.
The production of the Culling Game arc had already been confirmed earlier this year at Anime Expo. During the event, Enoki told fans:
“I’ve already started recording, and I can tell you this—the fight scenes are on a whole new level. If I were you, I’d be excited.”
Attendees were also treated to behind-the-scenes footage showing Enoki performing emotional Season 3 moments based on rough storyboard sketches. One striking scene depicts Yuji worrying about his friends’ safety as Ryomen Sukuna’s terrifying power continues to grow, hinting at sinister moves behind the curtain. As Enoki emphasized, after the devastating events of Season 2, Yuji now fully understands what he is fighting for.
MAPPA, Gege Akutami, and Future Projects
The anime studio MAPPA (Chainsaw Man, Lazarus) continues to lead the adaptation. Meanwhile, series creator Gege Akutami has shifted toward new projects following the manga’s conclusion in September 2024. Akutami is currently working with Yuji Iwasaki (illustrator of Cipher Academy) on a brand-new, limited series for Weekly Shonen Jump. Titled Mimojuro, the project will debut in Issue #41 of 2025, with Akutami as writer and Iwasaki as illustrator.
JJK Expands with New Anime Film

In addition to the Season 3 premiere, Jujutsu Kaisen will also hit the big screen once again. A new movie titled Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution will cover the Shibuya Incident arc and the early chapters of the Culling Game. The film is set to premiere in Japan on November 7, 2025, and will be distributed in North America by GKIDS starting December 5, 2025. Notably, GKIDS also handled the U.S. release of Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie earlier this summer.
Where to Watch and Read Jujutsu Kaisen
Seasons 1 and 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen are currently streaming on Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Netflix. The complete manga is available digitally via Viz Media and Manga Plus.
Let’s hope Mappa delivers.
