To commemorate the release of the second compiled volume of the manga Subaru and Suisei, the series was featured with a center color spread in the 15th issue of Young Magazine, which hit stands today, the 9th. Alongside this celebration, a selection of pages from the latest chapter has been officially unveiled, showcasing intense racing action right from the opening sequence.

Serving as the successor to Initial D and MF Ghost, Subaru and Suisei follows two distinct protagonists whose destinies are rapidly set into motion. A young man named Subaru Kudo (written with the kanji for “comet”) appears before the troubled Ogata and Aiba, while a young female driver named Subaru Sato (written with the kanji for “Pleiades”) has a fateful encounter with Bunta. The story chronicles a true legend of the fastest street racers, forged by these two drivers who have inherited the racing spirit from Kanagawa and Gunma.

The “MFG” is a public road racing circuit held in Japan that has garnered massive worldwide popularity. One year after Kanata Rivington—the protégé of Takumi Fujiwara—took the MFG by storm, Subaru Sato from Gunma and Subaru Kudo from Kanagawa burn with the desire to challenge the circuit. The worlds of Initial D and MF Ghost seamlessly merge as the curtain rises on a new legend woven by the two “Subarus.”

Franchise Background
Initial D: Serialized in Weekly Young Magazine from 1995 to 2013, the story centers on Takumi Fujiwara. Driving his tofu-shop-owning father’s beloved AE86—the iconic “Hachi-Roku”—Takumi engages in a series of high-stakes car battles against street racers across the Kanto region, aiming to become the undisputed fastest driver on public roads.

MF Ghost: The direct sequel, which ran from 2017 to 2025, follows Kanata Katagiri, Takumi Fujiwara’s prized pupil. Traveling alone from the UK to Japan to compete in the MFG, Kanata engages in fierce, high-speed battles against the “God 15,” the elite top-ranked drivers of the public road racing circuit.
