The first trailer for Pokémon Concierge, a stop-motion Netflix series set in the Pokémon world, has finally arrived, nine months after the show was first announced during February’s Pokémon Presents. The first episode of the four-part series will air on the streaming service on December 28.
In Pokémon Concierge, we follow Haru as she starts a new work in a hotel where both humans and Pokémon are welcome. Haru has difficulty communicating with Pokémon because they can’t articulate their wants in the same way that humans can, as seen in the trailer, but as she comes to know the guests, she attempts to help them find the same calm that she’s found at the resort.
Dozens of Pokémon, including fan favorites like Pikachu, Dragonite, and Eevee as well as some less predictable picks like the elemental monkeys, Furret, and even the hulking pseudo-legendary Metagross, are shown in the trailer visiting the fine establishment.
However, Haru’s Psyduck steals the show. Fans of the Pokémon franchise will know that Psyducks have a reputation for having erratic psychic powers and chronic headaches, and it appears that these traits play a significant role in the character’s personality in Pokémon Concierge.
It seems like Haru and the tiny guy are getting along rather well in the trailer, which is surprising because I can’t think of a more difficult Pokémon for Haru to calm down.

Over the years, I’ve become extremely fascinated by Pokémon stories like Concierge and Detective Pikachu that analyze the world without being bound to competitive combat.
This program has all the makings of a warm and comforting wintertime viewing experience. I’m wondering if there’s more to the tale than Haru and her pals just chillaxing, or if there are more Pokémon we haven’t seen yet that Netflix is keeping secret in the teaser. On December 28 (when the series debuts on Netflix), we’ll find out.
