*Space Brothers* began serialization in Kodansha’s *Morning* magazine in December 2007. The story centers on two brothers, Mutta and Hibito, who made a childhood promise to one another while gazing up at the starry sky. By the year 2025, younger brother Hibito has kept his word, becoming an astronaut and joining the first long-term lunar crew. In stark contrast, older brother Mutta has been fired from his job and is left unemployed. However, a single email from Hibito reignites Mutta’s passion, prompting him to reach for the stars once more.

A massive hit, the series won both the 56th Shogakukan Manga Award (General Category) and the 35th Kodansha Manga Award (General Category) in 2011. It inspired a television anime that ran from 2012 to 2014, as well as a 2012 live-action film starring Shun Oguri and Masaki Okada.

The series’ official X account shared the news: “*Space Brothers* will conclude in just three more chapters. The release date for the 46th and final volume has also been decided for Thursday, July 23! Nineteen years have passed since the series began in 2007. Let’s witness the conclusion of the brothers’ dream and promise together!”
