The Exile Village Lord’s Grand Development Manga Launches on Piccoma!

Fukuyama Matsue’s story gets a manga launch: Fumiya Hasuno’s brand‑new series, “The Exile Village Lord’s Grand Development—A frontier hamlet full of castoffs that may one day claim supremacy over the world—,” begins today, September 29, with an advance release on Piccoma. The work is a comic adaptation of Fukuyama’s novel.

Two anime characters stand on a grassy hillside above a small village. At right, a red‑haired boy in a green coat with a fluffy fur collar crosses his arms and smirks. At left, a blonde girl in a blue-and-white maid outfit holds a brown suitcase, ribbons fluttering. Large glowing green Japanese title text with a sword motif reads “Exiled Village,” with additional credits and stylized lettering across the image.

After the death of his father—a famed “Sword Saint”—a young heir, Ark, succeeds to his family’s earldom. Convinced he’s finally free from a life of nonstop sword drills, Ark starts daydreaming about an easy, tax‑funded life of luxury. Those hopes are dashed when rival nobles, hungry for influence, engineer his downfall and have him expelled to a remote border village. Waiting there is a community made up almost entirely of people like him—men and women with complicated pasts who were cast out elsewhere. Determined to build a new kind of paradise from nothing, Ark sets out on a comeback tale of territory management and relentless turnabout.
