The manga *A Certain Scientific Railgun* published its final chapter in the May issue of *Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh*, released on March 27. This brings an end to a nearly 19-year publication history that began in 2007.

*A Certain Scientific Railgun* is a spin-off of the light novel series *A Certain Magical Index*, centering on one of its main heroines, Mikoto Misaka. The story is set in Academy City, a metropolis dedicated to developing “esper abilities”—powers that bend the laws of physics to create supernatural phenomena. Against this backdrop, the series chronicles the peaceful, ordinary, yet slightly peculiar daily lives of Mikoto and her friends.

The franchise has spawned a successful television anime adaptation, with the first season airing from 2009 to 2010, the second in 2013, and the third in 2020. A fourth anime season has also been greenlit for production.
To commemorate the manga’s conclusion, the May 2026 issue of *Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh* features a special tribute article. This includes exclusive comments from the original series author, Kazuma Kamachi, and character designer Kiyotaka Haimura.
Additionally, artists who illustrate other manga in the *A Certain* franchise—including Chuya Kogino, Arata Yamaji, Yasuhito Nogi, and strelka—have contributed celebratory artwork. Heartfelt messages have also poured in from the anime’s primary voice cast, including Rina Sato (the voice of Mikoto Misaka), Satomi Arai, Aki Toyosaki, and Kanae Ito. Satoshi Yaginuma of fripSide, the musical act behind the anime’s iconic theme songs, has provided a commemorative message as well.
