On the 6th, manga artist Bkub Okawa—best known for Pop Team Epic—updated his X account with a brand-new illustration of Dark Magician Girl from the hit series Yu-Gi-Oh!.
The iconic character has recently been a hot topic among fans, spurred by her appearance on the “Dark Magic Curtain” card artwork in a newly released Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game pack.
Likely inspired by this recent buzz, Okawa shared a drawing depicting Dark Magician Girl leaping out of a book.
The Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise is based on the original manga by Kazuki Takahashi, which was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. The story centers on Yugi Muto, a timid high school student who awakens a mysterious dark power and engages in intense card game battles—known as Duels—against a variety of rivals. Over the years, the series has expanded into a massive multimedia juggernaut, encompassing video games, a globally popular trading card game, theatrical anime films, and more.
